How we’re making a sustainable future possible

How we’re making a sustainable future possible

At Cleanaway it’s our mission to make a sustainable future possible – for our people, the community and the environment. Some of the ways we achieve this include implementing our Footprint 2025 strategy to ensure Australia has the right infrastructure to maximise resource recovery; continuously improving the management of our operations; our work with communities; and through our environmental fee.

Leading sustainability through action:

Plan

Our specialists work directly with customers to identify improvements while our engineers lead the industry on key environmental performance indicators including alternative resource recovery strategies and new waste management technologies.

Treat

Environmental monitoring helps to develop treatment plans to minimise and manage odour, dust, noise and litter in and around our facilities; manage storm and wash water runoff; ensure our work is not impacting soil or ground water; and reduce greenhouse gas emissions from both our fleet and our facilities.

Educate

Through ongoing community consultation and education programs, education centres and facility open days we inform the community about our operations and encourage improved recycling behaviours.

Remediate

At the end of their useful life we return our landfill facilities to a standard which meets our environmental obligations – and maintain a 30-year commitment to the ongoing monitoring and management of these facilities.

Investment in resource recovery

Cleanaway’s Footprint 2025 is a roadmap to ensure Australia has the right infrastructure in place to support communities to manage their waste while maximising resource recovery.

Environmental Fee

The Environmental Fee is applied in line with our customer contracts and appears on invoices as a separate item to provide a simpler, more transparent view of our Fees and Charges. The fee reinforces our ongoing commitment to managing our customers’ waste sustainably and contributes to supporting our environmental initiatives.
